More from the Archives

As I suggested in my last post, here are some fishing photos, the really old ones are not on this computer, so I will have to go elsewhere to find those, but there are some fun ones here that will dredge up some memories for some of our readers.

Jon, Roland, and I did an outing on Minersville a few years ago, and when we caught these tow whoppers in tandem, we had to have a photo. I don't think we smiled any bigger when we caught some worth bragging about!

Last July when Booty was out from TX, we took Chubbins and his Dad on a morning run to Sand Hollow. We caught some great fish that morning, and here was one of Booty's best.

Chubbs was fishing for bluegill with a bobber and worm when the caught this, all by himself. He was pretty pleased, as you can see. I have to say, he is one of my favorite fishin' buddies. He's been going out with me for a really long time.

Jon, Rol, and I went out a few years ago early in the year, and while Jon and Rol reeled them in, I wondered what was wrong with what I was throwing. I don't mind playing the guide, its pretty fun to be out there, no matter what happens.

A couple of years ago Booty and I went to Richland Chambers lake, near Corsicana, TX, and met up with Mark Parker, out favorite local fishing guide. Mark has a great operation and takes you for whipers, white bass, crappie, or catfish. Early in the day, the whipers were boiling on the surface, and we got into them with big old yellow Sassy Shad lures.

Beany on that morning last July. He likes to go almost as much as Jake does. This was a heavy fish.

We haven't done this nearly enough. UP on Sand Hollow. We had a great morning together. I hope that now that he is living down there, we can get together and do this more.

In October of 2010, Bubby and I went to MN to visit my old buddy, Larry. While Bubby and Johanna (Larry's wife) did a big quilt tour, he and I fished Lake Sagg, and private lake on his college campus. We fished from a rowboat owned by his department. We had a great two days together, fishing and tellin' lies. He loved catching "sunnies" and this was one of the best.

Bubb and I at Newcastle. I love an afternoon there drifting the north side ledges until dark. Bubby can handle herself pretty darned well. Not the surgical glove. She doesn't enjoy fish touching.

The first time we fished with Mark in TX. This is pre-Leo. We had a blast, and Laur caught more than one double using Mark's setup for white bass. He even filleted the fish for us and we tried them. Not bad, but we weren't smart enough to turn them into fish tacos. They would have been excellent. Seeing these photos makes me want to hook up with Mark again, soon!

I have loved this one ever since I took it. Dan and I arrived at Sand Hollow early one summer morning. I had his rod all ready to go with a 1/4 ounce jig head and watermelon seed grub. While I was rigging my rod, he proceeded to boat three fish and loose two others. I can't help but think that his expression here is partially due to the fact that he was kicking my trash while I was trying to rig a rod with fumbling fingers.

We have certainly had some high times in our little boat. Can't wait to get to go again.
