Weekend Acitivities

Friday afternoon it started to rain. I mean, really rain! We probably had 0.5 inch before bedtime. It was great to see, and I couldn't help but think how badly we needed it. All of the gutters were overflowing because the City had not yet sucked up all of the leaves trapped in the grates over the irrigation ditches. Bubby and I tried to go to see "This Christmas", but the Web posting for the movie incorrectly advertised that it was at our nearby theaters, when in fact, it was playing across town. We decided we could never make it across town in time, so we went home and fixed dinner. Bubby had made some shepherds' pie, and we did some damage to it.

The T-bird men were running, so we went to the game. As it has been the situation all season, it was the tale of two halves. They played without drive or enthusiasm the entire first half, and then tried to catch up during the second half. You can read all about it, but the synopsis is that with 4 seconds remaining, SUU pulled ahead by one point. University of Colorado-Colorado Springs got the ball across half-court and threw up a prayer, which went it! We lost by one point. We came home, watched a Netflix, and woke up to what Bubby is pointing at in the photo above. She wasn't feeling 100%, so she slept in until about 9:00 AM. I slept in until 7:30 or so, and then went out to shovel the walks and driveway.

I brought the Bubb tea and toast points, and we showered and ran to do errands before the Christmas shopping crowds descended. We went to Staples to buy some envelopes for our Christmas letter, and Bubby decided she wanted some new mechanical pencils. We spent quite a bit of time looking for the brand (Pilot G-2 pencils!), but ended up ordering them off of the internet.

We had a date with UP and AK at 4:15 PM, so we relaxed, warm and cozy inside until our appointed hour. Tony called and we got invited to Vince's blessing next Sunday. UP and AK met us at the theater, and we saw "Enchanted" the newest Disney offering. It was quite entertaining, and I would recommend it. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 92%, which tells you quite a bit.

Following the movie, we had dinner at Bruno's (great anti-paste salad) and then Bubby talked AK into going to the Acclamation Christmas show ("Everywhere Christmas").

This photo was one I tried to take without a flash from about 10 rows back. The show was about what you would expect. High energy, tons of costume changes, spotty vocals, and lots of hip-shot dancing. Certainly not my cup of tea, but we do these things for the ones we love! I think that Bubby and UP/AK enjoyed it though.

It was a fun evening, capping off a fairly relaxing Friday evening and Saturday. Sunday will be Sunday. Bubby is singing in the Ward, and I have the usual complement of meetings, starting at 7:00 AM. I have to shovel the driveway again, because it snowed a little last night. Brian Head is reporting 20 inches of snow with 8 inches in the last 24 hours. It was a good weekend for moisture.
