Fishing Fun

The faithful readers of this blog probably get tired of the fishing photos, but alas they tell the story of what we are doing. Bubby and I went out on Monday night, August 13th. We had fun, of course, and I never cease to be amazed at the sheer numbers of fish we catch at Newcastle.

This was the biggest sunfish I have caught at Newcastle, so I had to include him. He was really stout, but unfortunately, fought like a sunfish.

Of course Bubby caught her share, including this rather nice smallie. We had a great time, enjoying the cool of the evening on the water and being together.

I had offered to take Uncle Phil on an outing earlier this summer, but we had to cancel because of the weather. Last night, August 20th, we finally got together and took the boat to Newcastle. Uncle Phil had a ball. This was a great experience, and we were both reminded of the axiom, "there is no such thing as a small smallmouth". Uncle Phil caught plenty, and could be heard chuckling as he reeled them in, and they went crazy at the boat.

We did land this one decent fish. Uncle had one on that was at least equal to this one, but he broke off in a strong, last minute run. We didn't get a photo. but that gives us a reason to go back.

I included this photo for Jake. UP caught a wiper, so as not to be outdone by Jake. He wasn't very big, but one of three we caught that night.

All things considered, it was another great outing. UP says he would love to do it again sometime, so we will squeeze it in before winter. Maybe we can do Sand Hollow next time. While we were fishing, Aunt Karen and Bubby went to the movies and dinner. That sounds like a win-win situation to me.
