Catching Up

Family and Friends,

The last couple of weeks have been incredibly busy. Of course school has started, and it seems that we are on the run all of the time. I will try to provide a synopsis of the highlights for our faithful readers. We have faithfully collected the photographs to illustrate our activities, but alas they are at home and I am writing from work.

Booty and Laurie came for a visit in late August. That gave us plenty of chances for celebration. We first celebrated the completion of an MS in mathematics, and then moved seamlessly to a birthday celebration. Lots of food and fun were had by all. Because Matt and Laurie were in Cedar City, we were also blessed with visits from Sarah and the family. What a great time we have had.

On one particular morning, Lydia and Katie enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate at the kitchen counter. This was Lydia's first chance to sit up the counter like a big girl, and you can tell she is thrilled.

Of course the birthday celebration included a trip to the Blue Bunny in St. George, where I got these great shots of people enjoying the company and the ice cream.

Bubby and I quietly celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary. I fixed dinner for her (an olive oil linguini with bruschetta and some lovely summer squash from the garden. On Monday, Labor Day, Bubby decided she wanted to run to Provo and shop the sales. We went into Dillard's at the Provo Towne Center, and who should run into, but Rosalyn, Andrew, and Patty. We all had lunch together at Demae later that day.

We have thoroughly enjoyed Matt and Laurie's visit. They left for Oregon this morning, and will drive all the way today. We loaded them up with parmesean goldfish and bottled water, so they can have a few creature comforts. Bubby and I took a jump yesterday and bought tickets to fly to Portland on October 17th. We will meet up with them, provided they are available, and I think a trip to Victoria, BC, is planned. We just couldn't pass up the cheap tickets that Southwest was offering.

Bubby, Booty and I went fishing at Sand Hollow on Monday night. It was a beautiful evening, and Bubby's first fishing trip on that reservoir. I was hoping that Matt and Bubb would have a big night, but, alas, it was my turn. I caught the heck out of them, as you can see from the photo.

I also guided Jon Lee and Uncle Roland on Sand Hollow on Thursday, September 6th, when it was Uncle Roland's turn. He out caught Jon and I about three to one. It was great to see him having so much fun.

We completed the orange ball tourney on Saturday, September 1st, and Matt and Aaron were on the winning team. Aaron and I had to do a little babysitting while Rosalyn (she came down for a quick visit), Sarah, and Bubby went to a baby shower for Jaye. We had fun in the backyard, and I am told that the shower was a huge success. But no one got wet???

Finally, just some great pictures of the grand kids. This is Lydia's Halloween costume, can you tell she really likes it? Bubby lined up all of the grandchildren's shoes. She just couldn't resist the size span.
